ESA · JAXA mission to Mercury

BepiColombo and SIMBIO-SYS

BepiColombo is the joint ESA–JAXA mission designed to investigate Mercury through two scientific orbiters: ESA's Mercury Planetary Orbiter and JAXA's Mio magnetospheric orbiter.

SIMBIO-SYS — Spectrometers and Imagers for MPO BepiColombo Integrated Observatory — is the imaging and spectroscopic suite aboard the Mercury Planetary Orbiter. Its observations support the study of Mercury's surface geology, morphology, mineralogy, and composition.
